Lazy Saturday (for once)

Happy Saturday all! I think I mentioned yesterday that it was the first Friday of the semester that I didn’t have to do any work and the same thing is true today! I mean, I put some polishing touches on my physics paper but that literally meant giving the equations in it their own lines.  So I hit enter 4 or 5 times then called it done.  Hollleeerrr.  Even though I won’t consider myself totally done with that class until it’s turned in I’m 100% done with 4/5 class plus my independent study.

The only thing left is my Spanish final which I am soooo not worried about so I was such a bum today.  I “slept in” aka just woke up without an alarm, read my for-fun book, banged out 14 miles, long hot shower, watched Spanish tv.  And now I’m blogging.  Tough life I know.  It’s so weird to have down time!

I guess though those 14 miles can’t really be considered bumming around though.  I mean that actually took energy haha.  I wasn’t planning on 14 (and when do I ever stick to my plan?) but it felt good and it was once again a run that made me realize that distance is my thing.  My last few miles were great and strong.  Although I guess  I shouldn’t rule out shorter distances, it might just mean I need to warm up for longer than most ppl.

It also made me excited to start training for Boston in a few weeks.  I decided to go with a 12 week plan since I’m in such great shape already and the first 4 weeks would likely be what I’ve been doing so far.  It’ll be nice to have another 4 weeks of no set plan even though I’m craving one.  Still no idea what plan I’m going to use, so another 4 weeks will be nice to search for one.

I chose to run during the hours of 1100 – 1300 because I figured the sun would be shining the highest then and with the current cold front covering the NorthEast I figured it would be less of a fiasco than yesterday.  Totally true because the wind wasn’t (that much) a factor today and I actually was sweating during the 27* run. Weird.  Although I was in all black with the sun directly on me.  I actually kind of enjoyed it when the wind blew haha.  Who’d have thunk right?

Certainly not I: Miss “I was so cold after my run yesterday that I had to lay down or risk passing out” haha.  My hands got cold (thanks to Raynaud’s syndrome.  Only cure according to my doctor? “Move somewhere warmer”) but it was no where near as bad as yesterday.

Nicer temps / weather = my mind can freely wander rather than “Oh [expletive] it’s cold”.  I guess all the language courses I’ve been taking have really affected me because lately I’ve been thinking in a mix of French and Spanish.  It’s just becoming a habit.  I like it. So much so that I’ve requested HP in both languages for Christmas! I actually can’t wait to dive into them.   But it also annoys me a bit because, as I discovered trying to write my physics paper, I can’t seem to write an English thought down on paper haha.

And it’s time to get back into doing nothing.  It’s weird (but totally makes since because of inertia) that when I don’t have much to do, anything that is on my to-do list  doesn’t get done.  Like make a Christmas list for my friends / go shopping for Christmas stuff.  Blog, although this is getting posted now.  But it’s taken me forever to type it out! And I think it’s not coherent because I’ve just been on autopilot today hahaha.  So if you’ve followed it: props to you! 😉

No definitely plans for tonight.  Maybe a movie and some adult hot chocolate.  Who knows.  Hope you have a relaxing Saturday night if you need it or a shitshow Saturday night if you need to blow off some steam 🙂

  1. Mucho productive day. Awesome 14. Nice prescription from your doctor. Does it take 10 years of school and an MD to come up with that diagnosis? Ha.

  2. 14 miles on a lazy saturday? my lazy saturday involved watching reruns of the old 90210, drinking a lot of tea, staring blankly at the computer, and walking down the hall to get the mail. yeah, you’re a total bum today 😉

  4. Glad you had a good run and enjoy your much needed down time. I had a 6-mile all-terrain winter adventure here this morning. Can’t wait for the sidewalks to finally get plowed/de-iced.

  6. i wouldn’t have believed you about sweating/being comfortable at 27 degrees until my race! it really is amazing how much heats the body generates running. hopefully you have good running gloves for those fingers? another thing you can do for raynauds is buy those heat packs that skiiers use to put in their gloves. my mother in law has it (bad) and swears by them!
