10 Things

Running Fiance tagged me in her post “10 Things That Make Me Smile”. Thanks girl!  So the gist of it is that I tell you guys 10 things (that obviously make me smile) and then try to do one of them — or more if I’m feeling ambitious.  Then I tag some people whom I want to know more about.  Gosh aren’t you lucky that you get Twelve Questions then this? I know you’re just dying from euphoria 🙂

  1. Robert Downey Jr. Ummm yeah, how could you not smile!
  2. My friends’ laughter.  And I’m not getting all sappy in the sense of “I love hearing laughter” No this is very specific laughter that is just outrageous to hear.
  3. Cleanliness.  As in I just cleaned my room, although cleanliness as in showering or laundry is good too (and oh man the smell of laundry!).  Granted I’m a clean freak in general but there’s not much nicer than looking at a room you just cleaned from top to bottom
  4. Freshly shaved legs in sweatpants.  This might be TMI but sometimes I wait an extra day or two before shaving just so that this sweatpants feeling is more distinct
  5. The Office. Psych. Hilarity. ‘Nuff said
  6. All my bamf shows: 24, LOST, NCIS, Numb3rs, CSI: Miami. I sadly don’t get to watch them nearly enough. (And I pulled some pretty sweet pics for those links. Someone better click them. Just sayin’ 🙂 )
  7. A nice hard tempo or interval workout
  8. Country music.  It’s my roots y’all despite being born and raised as a Yankee.
  9. The way sheets/comforters/quilts sometimes just mold to you when you wake up in the mornings. Although this makes it increasingly difficult to drag yourself out of bed.  There should be a way to make this a weekend only thing because I do not want it on Monday heh.
  10. Hot Spanish TA — c-mon now, did you really thing I wouldn’t put this on here? (And sadly no updates as he is in Spanish for the winter break)

Hopefully the things that make me smile made you smile too.  So now I want to know what kinds of things make these guys smile (and I tried to NOT tag people I already knew had been tagged.) And Ahhhhh there are so many of you I want to tag! So I guess I’ll go through my comments and pick the last 10 people who commented? Yes, very diplomatic that way 🙂 [Edit: Guess I can’t count and did 12.  Yes I am a physics major and use math daily]

Ada (at NYCollegEats)
Tricia (at Endurance isn’t only Physical)
Sarah (at The SHU Box)
Kat (at SheDidWhattttt?)
Lacey (at Common Objects and Everyday Events)
Aron (at Runners Rambles)
Jess (at SeeJessRun)
SpecialK (at The Special K Treatment)

So onto today.  I totally lied yesterday when I said I was headed back to school.  Not intentionally of course, as I had every intention of headed back last night — I was even 100% packed with all my stuff in the living room.  But some stuff came up and it just made sense to stay an extra night and the extra day today. I plan on getting another free dinner tonight though.

I actually set my alarm this morning so I could time my gym trip just right for my lifting and avoid the majority of people that annoy me in the gym.  The list is lengthy so I’ll just leave it at that.  But I’ve found that if I go to the gym at 0800 and leave by 0915 I can avoid them.  But I have an amusing story anecdote (?) that I would like to share: when I was doing my short warm down after the lift the man on the TM next to me was sipping DD coffee.  No joke.  The smell was pleasant though so I couldn’t really give him a mean look or anything.

But back to the lifting: I’ve been really good so far this year (and I guess I started the last few weeks of 2009 too) of getting in regular strength training.  I’m very pleased about that and today’s session was another good one.  Yet again, I did my lifting routine (found on the right hand side of the page) and did the “upped” weights because I went to the gym closer to my house.  And they don’t have half-weights. Sad face.  But I think my body must be getting stronger because the heavier weights didn’t seem so bad today and on Sunday they felt heeeeeeeavy.  Bueno.

I also had a run on tap (ummm duh when do I not?). Nothing spectacular or anything, although I find it impressive that I could keep my “ideal” easy pace after working my legs this morning.  Maybe more so because it’s 28* feels like 15* outside.  And like I mentioned above all my stuff is packed up.  This includes all my cold weather / wind resistant gear.  Luckily the sun was out and the wind wasn’t too bad so my shorts and old-ratty sweatshirt were okay during the run. But man when the wind blew and/or I was in a shady region I totally felt a bit of a chill.  Conversely, when I was in the sun with no wind I was sweating like no other.  Go figure right?

Another highlight of the run was having Party in the USA stuck in my head the whole time. Don’t judge because I seriously considered putting it as one of my 10 things above.

Also: Check out the giveaway that EatMoveLove is having, although I really want it so don’t heh (and I say that everytime, don’t I? Must get new saying for giveaways aha)

  1. 1. thank you for the tag 🙂
    2. party in the usa is the best running song ever
    3. office – if i could only watch one show for the rest of forever it would be the office ❤

  4. Thanks for the tag … I think. I need to read the instructions again … what am I supposed to do again? 😉

Very nice multitasking … packing up, lifting and getting the run in. Is the double digit streak still alive??

  5. The fact that you used “bamf” in #6 made me smile. I don’t remember who brought that over to our dailies forums way back when, but I know the earliest mention on my blog is June 7th, 08. I guess that isn’t really that long ago, but it feels like forever!

Do you still post on the RW forums at all?

  6. Thanks for the tag. You left out an important detail in your anecdote, though. Was the guy on the treadmill running or walking while he was drinking the coffee? If he was running that would have been pretty hard core.

  7. Thank you for tagging me! I totally cracked up when I read the “shaved legs in sweat pants” line because it’s so true:)

Your comment on my blog is exactly the reason I am considering majoring in English! I feel like so many science majors apply to med school so doing something like English might be beneficial.

  8. DD coffee on the TM? haha that is too funny. I hope he was walking!

Glad you enjoyed the list 🙂 And freshly shaved legs feel the best. This may really be TMI…but when my fiance leaves for military stuff for a few days or so, I definitely leave mine until he gets home. They feel so good! 🙂
