Sleepy Friday

Hey-a! Not too much going on in my world at the moment (hence the sleepyness of Friday.  Campus is more quiet than usual and I just had the chance to sit down and relax and not feel rushed).  Which is soooo nice.  As much as I crave business I’ve been wicked busy and stressed all week.  Right up until about a half hour ago when I turned in my experimental physics lab report.  Definitely been a crazy week with lots of high energy and emotion.

So, while I still had a class today, a lab report to hand in and lots of errands that I had been putting off all week, I had so much fun going out last night.  We didn’t end up going to the bar at 1830, mostly because I was still writing my report! I finally finished the sucker at 2130 and we were at the bar drinking by 2200.  Heh.  I hadn’t let loose via dancing in quite sometime and it was amazing to be carefree (and tipsy…) for a few hours.

It was even nicer knowing that I didn’t have to get up at 0530/0600 Friday morning like I did last semester.  Yes I still didn’t get a lot of sleep with a 0700 alarm but the mental aspect of getting up at 0700 is sooo easier and nicer because *it’s actually light out*.  I think EE put it best when she told me awhile ago: “it’s like legitimately morning, not still bedtime”. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO TRUE.

Even so my mind wasn’t quite as alert as it could have been when I stumbled (seriously) out of bed for my recovery run this morning.  It wasn’t quite as cold as I had thought it was going to be (it was about 20ish when I was thinking 15*) so I was a bit overdressed but that’s okay.  For recovery runs I’d rather be overdressed than under-dressed.  I don’t want tight muscles that have been worked hard being all tight and not relaxing when I run: totally a recipe for disaster.

Amazingly the recovery run wasn’t as awfully slow as Wednesday.  Yes this was still a recovery run (with a pace of 9:39) and my form never felt off.  Granny shuffle speed wise but I think I looked like a runner and not a dying animal this morning.  It might have helped that I never got a chance to fully awaken myself to know what I was getting myself into.  Thus my body just did it’s thang.

I also was able to get in a lifting session (as is my MO M-W-F).  It felt better than Wednesday (which not only had a slow run but a cumbersome lift).  My only complaint was that the gym was like a frickin sauna or something.  And it wasn’t just me, a friend was there and she said that it was wicked hot.  I was totally sweating buckets! I think it was because the sun was really bright and there might have been a greenhouse effect going on.  Either way I just wanted to get out of there fast.

The rest of my day has been filled with Spanish class, eating, proofreading my report and grocery shopping.  Fun stuff no? But (and please don’t judge me for this) I finally returned all the soda cans and bottles I had in the back of my car.  Anyone want to guess how much I got back?! Well since this is a blog and I really want to tell you now and not make you guess and wait for tomorrow…$9.25.  That’s 185 items returned.  Maybe I have a problem?

Problem or no I’m going to try and tackle a little bit of my homework for the weekend now.  Nothing very serious just the busy work so that I can do the heavy hitters tomorrow.  Plus I’m going to see  Men who Stare at Goats tonight at the campus theater which should be fun.  I wanted to see it when it was in theaters but there’s a little problem called $$. Heh. So I waited until it was free at school 🙂

Have a great Friday night!!

P.S. Check out the wicked sweet giveaways from Marcia and ErikaH

  1. Totally laughing about the soda b/c that’s me too (coke zero = my vice). I discovered that by entering the codes on the bottle caps, I get a better percentage return on spending than what my credit card company offers so I have yet another justification. I think the phosphoric acid is not so good for the bones though 😦

  2. 185 cans!?!?! That’s nuts! Did you use that money to buy more pop? 😉 That’s usually what I do, which pretty much perpetuates the cycle!

  3. I’m not sure if you have answered this before, but what does a day of eating and drinking look like for you? You are such an impressive athelete and I’m always interested in the habits of athletes such as yourself!

  4. You are DEDICATED re: the pop cans (Yeah, I say pop!). Oh, and re: EVERYTHING else in your life. Clearly!

  5. So glad you are enjoying the recovery runs. I was worried that your need for speed might overtake your willingness to stay on the plan. Keep it up!

  6. My run might have been colder than yours today 😉 We didn’t have class because of the SNOW!

  7. Haha, you’re like me..I never watch movies in the theaters because of the $$, either. I’d rather just rent it and watch it in the comforts of my own room, with a bowl of oatmeal. 🙂

  8. Haha love that you return soda cans, what a great idea! I might have to drink more soda now just to make money;) Good excuse, no?

Good job on the recovery run and have a fab weekend:)

  9. i love free campus movies!!!! i def miss those. you didn’t have to wait that long either. that movie was okay… it def had some funny moments!!!!!!

valentine’s day was JUST okay 🙂 but i loved seeing taylor + taylor, lol. and julia roberts!! if you see it make sure you watch the last outtake (in the credits) with her… makes the whole thing way worth it.

way to make some money on recycling!!!! more power to you. my friends at midd used to do that. it was an ongoing beer fund (they’d throw parties and save ALL the cans lol).

  10. “i like to think i looked like a runner and not a dying animal” – lol!! i’m sure anyone who saw you who knows anything would think to themself “well obviously, there’s a very fast runner doing a recovery run. duh.” 🙂 you need to teach me how to run at a recovery pace…every time i think i’m doing it i fail haha.

  11. Thanks for the post idea, I haven’t done one of those but it’s a good idea! Going to write one in the next few days! That’s a pretty good haul for the empty cans! I wish they did something like that over here!

  12. hey girl! Sorry I’ve been an absent commenter recently. Work is a little out of control. But it looks like you’re still rocking hardcore. I love that you were at the bar at 2200. Excellent.

True story about morning running. Yes, it does make the day seem longer, but I still dislike 5am. It’s DARK outside!

    • yes it’s dark outside now but slowly and surely the sun is rising a little earlier everyday! I can’t wait for summer and running at 5am and having light 🙂
